This course educates supervisors of non-exempt employees about the employees’ rights to
rest breaks under California law. Rest break rules will be explained including approved
times and length of rest breaks, waiving meal breaks, and conditions that call for “cooldown”
breaks. Upon completion of the course, supervisors will validate their understanding of rest
break rules through successful completion of a learning assessment and will generate a
certificate that can be printed and maintained in HR files. When taken by new supervisors as
part of onboarding and by existing supervisors as a refresher, the course can help ensure
compliance with wage and hour laws and serve as part of a comprehensive risk mitigation
